the path of the rake

Many years ago, in the southern regions of a distant land, there lived a man named Hewko. A poor man by providential status but rich in Mind, Body and Spirit.

“Relationships -he said- are the true paths towards wealth of the soul, peace of mind and health of the body”.

AND,

“Relaxation is not for the pillows as pillows are not for the relaxed”!

Many apparently wise and yet puzzling things he said. . . leaving the disciples who did not seek him more in wisdom than before. There is no calmer than that of a wild rabbit that is afraid to venture out of its burrow for fear of being eaten. No less confused and no more focused on their self-imposed task because they didn’t act.

But they searched for it anyway as all seekers must search for someone other than themselves to “show” them “the way”!

The path of ‘The Rake’ clears all paths that are unclear due to the fallen leaves of time.

And you, dear reader. . . Are you also looking for the spiritual healing that comes with the words of the Great Sage Hewko? Be of good cheer: the secret is in the essence and foundation of The Rake! “The Way of the Rake”, as Hewko would put it, “clears all paths that are unclear due to the fallen leaves of time”; and I will share with you in a very few words the philosophy of The Rake and how you can apply it today without further delay of peace for the mind, depth for the soul and life for the body.

“Just as the path of the forest is darkened by the leaves that fall there…so also our minds are not clear by the task that falls on our minds.” Too much technology, too many business opportunities, too many bills to pay, and too many places to be and things to do. We are overwhelmed, our minds are messed up, we don’t exercise, we don’t sleep. . . We know what we should do but we don’t!

Meditation is a straw that eludes the grasp; yoga is an exercise of mind and body that is not always satisfying; crystals are debated, shelved, and forgotten; and when we feel sluggish conventional medicine offers no cure, we look to “holistic” and/or “alternative” medicines only to find more “alternatives” to “alternatives”! Hewko would not deny all of the above as potential sources of healing from mind, body and spirit… but you have to first develop the discipline of The Rake!

The Mind Body Spirit connection is connected to Earth. . .

All religions teach the importance of the Spirit Earth connection. The Bible says in the Genesis creation story, “with toil and toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life.” The man continually shirks his duty as “husband” to the earth and wonders why he feels so lethargic. The sowing and reaping of years gone by is increasingly removed from the life of modern man. Hewko says, “Dig into your own garden soil and grow something!”

The Way of the Rake is nothing more than the rake that you can buy at the local hardware store. . . take the rake in hand and touch the earth! Mind, Body and Spirit unite in that one action and you are centered, balanced and whole. The rake is literally but only a part of it. Cultivate the land, plant the seed and help it grow! The law of sowing and reaping has always been taught since the beginning of time through the planting of seeds and is the foundation of all business and romance.

If you can’t find your way through religion. . . rake! If you can not calm the mind. . . rake! If you are overwhelmed with bills, business and the worries of this world. . . rake!

Disconnect from the television and the computer, go out and touch the Earth. Modern man today assigns these basic life energies to other men who regard these God-given privileges as nothing more than a 9 to 5 JOB. How can we be sure that our sufferings of mind, body and spirit are nothing more than self-imposed? when we go for months? and, for some, years without rolling in the hay?

The man of religious convictions who studies the Bible and yet avoids his “curse” can no more expect God to answer his prayers than he can expect tomatoes to grow where he has not prepared the soil. Going back to earth should be our motto. Homegrown should be the description given to the vegetables at our table. And the law of sowing and reaping must be the first law written in our hearts. . . Mind, Body, and Spirit begins where the salad grows.

Hewko’s final words

“Clear the leaves from the path of your mind with The Rake! Touch the Earth and the Earth will touch you. When we Rake we use the Mind, we use the Body and find our full Spirit.”
