Hearing Loss

Hearing loss is a very common issue. Chiropractic care has a long history of helping patients with hearing problems and is an excellent option for those who suffer from deafness or who are looking for a way to improve their hearing.

Often times, chiropractic care for hearing loss is used to treat conditions like earaches or other issues that cause fluid buildup in the eustachian tubes. This can lead to infections and pain, but chiropractic adjustments are able to drain the fluid and relieve symptoms.

Many studies have shown a connection between correcting dysfunction in the cervical spine and improved hearing. This has led to many parents bringing their children to chiropractors for ear infections.

Chiropractic Care For Hearing Loss

Chiropractors use a variety of techniques to relieve ear infections and other issues that cause fluid to build up in the eustachian tubes, including a special technique called the Cranial Sacral Technique. This method is a gentle and effective technique that addresses the cheekbones, neck, eyes and cranium to promote proper drainage.

It’s an easy procedure that usually requires no sedation and can be performed on both adults and children. During the treatment, your chiropractor will gently manipulate the muscles surrounding the ears to loosen them, allowing fluid to drain and improve the flow of the fluid in the eustachian tubes.

In addition, a quick thrust, or what chiropractors call an “adjustment,” is applied to the joints in the neck and back to restore proper alignment. This is done to help the nerves in the spinal cord get back into their proper place and to help the body function at its highest possible level.

Often times, this results in better overall health. This includes more energy, less headaches and less pain.

This is because when your nervous system doesn’t have a chance to communicate properly, it can cause many symptoms to occur in the body. These include headaches, sinus infections, earaches and other painful conditions.

A lot of research shows that the misalignment of the spinal bones (vertebral subluxations) are a major cause of nerve interference, causing hearing loss and other health problems. This is why chiropractic focuses on removing these subluxations and restoring the nerves to their normal position in the spine.

Researchers have found that restoring the vertebral subluxations and nerves to their proper positions can significantly increase your hearing. This is especially true if you have low or high frequency hearing loss.

In the case of a 9-year-old girl, her hearing improved dramatically after only one chiropractic adjustment!

She was previously diagnosed with a sensorineural hearing loss and had difficulty hearing. After receiving her first chiropractic adjustment, she reported that her hearing was much better and she no longer needed her hearing aids.

In addition, this has been observed in adults who suffer from tinnitus and other ear problems. The author suggests that this could be caused by dysfunction in the upper cervical spine that impedes the communication of the nerves that control the ears and other areas of the head and neck.
