Sometimes I hear of people who have a specific food and think they can’t live without it. And this food will sometimes prevent them from even considering a diet that might otherwise work for them. They can’t even imagine giving up their favorite food, so they tell themselves that they will lose weight in some other way.
But then when the weight doesn’t come off, then they might reconsider. And this is what leads some people to wonder about specific foods allowed on the Nutrisystem diet. People often ask me about the possibility of continuing to eat their favorite foods, even while dieting.
An example of this is popcorn. An example of a common comment is: “I love popcorn. I eat several servings a day. It is my food to have a snack, but I also have it as a side to lunch. I am interested in diet, but I will not give up my popcorn. I’m just being honest. I’ve tried it several times in the past and it was a disaster. So my question is, will I be able to get popcorn on the Nutrisystem diet? “
You can eat popcorn as a garnish: The answer to this question is yes. You can eat popcorn in Nutrisystem in two different ways. Popcorn is allowed as a snack in the “other” category in terms of additional grocery items. On this diet, you are allowed to consume three items from the “other” category each day. The serving size is one cup. Now if you had to eat three servings of popcorn, then you’d have to give up the other things that fall into this category for the day (like condiments, margarine, etc.). But, if not, there is one more option that may interest you.
You can eat popcorn as a diet snack: You may or may not know that this diet provides you with snacks and desserts when you order one of their packages. One of the snacks available is popcorn. So, in addition to eating popcorn as a side to the grocery store, you can also eat the packaged popcorn. This would mean that you would not have to use one of your three “other” servings for the day. And I find the Nutrisystem popcorn to be very good. It has a buttery flavor and is not lacking in flavor. But it doesn’t taste like fat either.
But to answer the question posed, you might be glad to know that you won’t have to give up popcorn. In fact, you can provide it through health foods or you can eat the diet version. Either way, you won’t have to deprive yourself of this favorite food, even if you’re on a diet.
