We’ve all been there, we’ve been doing well on a diet for the last few weeks or months and before we know it, those vacations we scheduled 6 months ago are here.
We are excited to hit the beach in our new bathing suit now that we have lost a few pounds and we look good. The problem is how to behave well during the holidays.
It’s so easy to forget about all the hard work we’ve done while letting go of our hair and relaxing over the holidays.
So what do we do to stay healthy?
Well I’ll throw in my two cents and maybe you can get a little advice from what I have to say.
Diet is one of the first things to relax the moment we get off that plane.
You think, heck, I’ve been fine for the last two to three months and even lost a few pounds, what could a big dinner hurt?
Soon enough, a big dinner turns into a big dinner and buffet breakfast, which eventually turns into a week of over-the-top meals.
The thing to remember is that even if you’re on vacation, you need to stay in control.
I realize that this is much easier said than done, but there are several things you can do to make it easier.
First, remember how good it feels to step on the scale and watch those pounds disappear. Second, remember how horrible it feels to step on the scale and watch the pounds put on.
It is also important to pay attention to how you feel after eating.
Chances are, if you’ve been good and eat a healthy meal, you’ll feel light, but energetic and ready to go.
If you ate something loaded with fat, you will probably feel heavy and sluggish as if you wanted to take a nap, you will also feel bloated and “too full” if there is such a thing. That feeling is unpleasant for me and serves as an important reminder not to eat like this.
It is also worth noting something quite interesting, when you eat food laden with fat you feel fat and therefore you are more conscious of your weight, so when you take your shirt off by the pool or on the beach you feel insecure .
Eating healthy will make you feel healthier and therefore more confident when it’s time to take your shirt off.
Don’t ask me how that works, but it’s true.
Now for exercise, how do you continue to cut those calories when all you feel like doing is laying by the pool?
Try to make exercise fun for your vacation.
If you’re just laying by the pool, try jumping in and doing a few laps or playing with your family in the pool, that’s fun and is sure to burn off some calories.
Another incredible way to exercise is to enjoy the culture or landscape of the place you are visiting by taking a walk or a walk.
It is exhilarating to explore the surroundings when you are in a new place, going out and seeing the city or a piece of nature is always nice.
Also, check with your hotel concierge to learn about all the different activities that are available to visitors. Chances are, you will find something you really enjoy doing that also burns a good amount of the calories you ingested during the breakfast buffet.
In short, make it nice to stay healthy on vacation, remember why you do it and how it makes you feel healthy, your vacation will probably be even more enjoyable if you keep those things in mind.
