call of duty 6

With Modern Warfare 2 scheduled to release on November 10 this year, many people, including myself, are wondering if the release of this game will mark the end of the original Modern Warfare.

Since its launch nearly two years ago, Modern Warfare has captured the hearts, minds, souls, and attention of millions of gamers. The game has been a huge hit across all gaming platforms, be it PlayStation 3, Xbox, Wii, or just your personal computer. People of all walks of life have come to love this game since its release a long time ago. And with the recent release of World at War, it seems that a large part of the Call of Duty generation has stuck with Modern Warfare rather than the newer version. I believe this is the case for several reasons.

First, the transition from modern times to the middle of the 20th century was a feat that proved difficult to achieve. The modern weaponry, perks, and levels of Modern Warfare are unrivaled when it comes to what is available to wear and play in World at War. For this reason, I think most people found this transition not worth it, myself included. I’d rather use modern weapons and perks and play on modern maps than go back in time and use weaker and less effective weapons. Modern weapons are, without a doubt, much more enjoyable to play with. Another reason I think people stuck with Modern Warfare is because of the actual gameplay of World at War.

The gameplay in World at War is much slower, due to the fact that the levels are much larger than in Modern Warfare. In addition to this, the levels are also much darker. The combination of these two features makes World at War once again not as action-packed and enjoyable as Modern Warfare. There are a number of reasons behind this, the main one being each game creator. Modern Warfare was created by Infinity Ward while World at War was created by Treyarch. Both editions have earned the prestigious “Game of the Year” title, but Modern Warfare is far superior to World at War in comparison. For this reason, and several others, Activision is transitioning back to Infinity Ward for the creation of Modern Warfare 2.

Rumors have been spreading about all the weapons, perks, and levels that will be offered in Modern Warfare 2, which is scheduled to release on November 10 of this year. Infinity Ward has gone so far as to create a website about the upcoming game, the sole purpose of which is to create an opportunity for Call of Duty fans to participate and offer some suggestions as to what should be offered in the new game. After reading many of these suggestions, my anticipation for this game reached a new level. While researching this new game, trying to find all the information I could about it, I came across a preview of the game. Although it doesn’t reveal much information about the game, it still sends shivers down my spine.

That brings us to our big question: “Will the release of Modern Warfare 2 result in the death of the original Modern Warfare?” For me, the answer is yes. Although Modern Warfare has had unprecedented success, I think Activision and Infinity Ward will build on that and make this version of the game even better. Thanks to the web pages they have created for this game, they now know exactly what people would like to see in this new game. They will build on some of the goodies from the original Modern Warfare, most likely removing or improving things people didn’t like about the game.

While it’s still too early to predict the success of the games, if it’s anything like the original Modern Warfare, you’d have to believe it’s going to be an instant hit. I can say with one hundred percent certainty that Modern Warfare 2 will win the prestigious “Game of the Year” award, making it the third in a row for Call of Duty and the Activision family. If you look at the number of people who have remained loyal to Modern Warfare, compared to those who have made the transition to World at War, Modern Warfare 2 is guaranteed to sell like hot cakes.

Personally, I’ll try to be one of the first to buy Modern Warfare 2 when it releases. To do this, I’m sure I’ll have to pre-order at a local video game store weeks, possibly months in advance. I plan to be one of the first to experience the new features of the games, this way I can really see how I stack up against the rest of the world in online gaming. I’ve never been into first-player shooters like Call of Duty before, however, I bought Modern Warfare on a whim, almost a year after its release, and fell in love instantly. I can’t say the same for World at War though. As hard as I tried, I couldn’t find the same feeling I had for Modern Warfare in this new edition. For me, the problem with World at War was the outdated weaponry. I found the transition from modern technology to the mid-20th century daunting. It wasn’t a pleasant experience, so I went back to Modern Warfare, which never seems to let you down.

Modern Warfare has everything I look for when it comes to first person shooter video games. It has a wide variety of modern weapons and perks and action packed levels. World at War never really met these needs.

So, with the release of Modern Warfare 2 right around the corner, it’s time to say goodbye to the original Modern Warfare and show it your respect by raising the bar for the gaming community.
